Given the scope of this project, and how it unites three games spanning several years worth of technical changes and advancements to the games engine, it is no surprise Creative Assembly is branding it as Beta at the time of initial release. If you played its predecessor, you will already know Creative Assembly has launched a companion game mode, involving every faction featured in the game on one large map, where they fight to take over every faction featured in the game on one large map. Personals will support up to eight multiplayer campaigns, and only the host needs to own all three video games. Immortal Empires will support up to eight multiplayer campaigns (which is Warhammer 3s Chaos Campaign count, appropriately), with the only requirement being that the host has all three games. Friends who own just Total War: Warhammer 3 will still be able to jump into the Immortal Empires multiplayer campaign, although their choice of Legendary Lords will be limited to those that they own. You will be able to run an entire sandbox campaign, playing and conquering as you please, using any of the available legendary lords (depending on which games you own) from any of the three games, or experiment with older legendary lords that have benefitted from reworks. You can read more about the upcoming The Shadow & The Blace DLC, as well as check out the newly updated Mortal Empires map, over at the official website. To play Immortal Empires, you may need to own all 3 games and will have the option of choosing from each game’s basic faction, as well as those of any DLC you own.

As such, I can only hope we'll get a few more of these extensions in the future as well since having more choices (as well as enemies to clobber) is always a good thing! However, even without Total War: Warhammer 3, the newly expanded Mortal Empires map should provide a significantly more diverse and interesting experience for any faction that likes to roam around the Southlands or the Badlands. Things are bound to become even more exciting in Total War: Warhammer 3 as the Ogre Kingdoms and potential Nagash addition would bring even more legendary lords into the region, which would make it just as much of a glorious bloodbath as the current Lustria. And with the presence of both Deathmaster Snikch and Malus Darkblade, this previously tame corner of the map is going to become a lot more competitive, especially now that both Kroq-Gar and Khalida no longer have an impenetrable wall at their back.

In other words, the southeastern part of the Mortal Empires map will be getting greatly expanded with the addition of the Dragon Isles, Gnoblar Country, Wolf Lands and surrounding territories.

However, unlike the past few legendary lords, Malus Darkblade and his counterpart Deathmaster Snikch will not start in one of the currently available provinces, but rather in entirely new ones! Total War: Warhammer 2's The Shadow & The Blade DLC is coming next week, bringing with it a variety of improvements to both the Skaven and Dark Elves.
